The MountainFilm festival featured plenty of skiing and climbing highlight reels, as usual, but this year action porn played second fiddle to a group of intense and moving documentaries. Here’s our very subjective list of the best documentaries and shorts, swiss replica watches ranked in order. Seeing every film would have been impossible. We missed some well-reviewed ones, such as Burma VJ: Reporting From a Closed Country. Second caveat: We didn’t consider Ken Burns’s National Parks series for this list, since it’s a 12 hour epic.

The parts we saw were thoroughly researched, visually compelling, and fascinating—you’ll be hearing plenty about the series when it airs on PBS this fall.
